MEAL TIME

Battling Food Insecurity

At Hollis Elementary in Greenville, SC, where 100% of the student population falls below the income threshold, food insecurity is a significant issue. The principal revealed that 21% of the students don't know where their next meal will come from. To combat this, we ensure that every child has a warm meal each day. While breakfast and lunch are provided for free at school, many Hollis students go home with limited access to additional food. This is a risk we do not take lightly.

Food Partnerships

Our partnership with Allair Homes and the Every Meal 2024 initiative is crucial in addressing this need. Through this collaboration, we receive the financial support to fund our meal program, ensuring that no child goes hungry. Providing consistent, nutritious meals is a key component of our program.

Mealtime has become a favorite part of our after-school program, with food being the number one highlight for many of the kids. By ensuring they have access to regular, nutritious meals, we not only address their immediate needs but also contribute to their overall well-being and ability to thrive in and out of school.
